RE: Does anyone winter in the FL Keys

If you are there in early winter be aware of the no see ums as they can drive you off the beach or even campgrounds near the water. Ask host before you go there, I have cancelled reservations because of them.
The Keys are a great place to stay if things are right.

RE: Caster Wheels for low clearance

I have the steel wheels mounted to the bottom of the hitch, when I enter or exit my driveway they contact the street and work very well. They do not contact the street more than 4 or 5 feet but if they were not there I am not sure what would drag. They work for me.

RE: What do u do?

I have been retired for 8 years after 40 years at a mid size plastic molder where I was Operations Mgr. I also fly balloons and that keeps me busy as I have been doing that for 35 years.

RE: 2 Hour roof re-caulking?

Eternabond 4"x50' roll about $50. will last at least 10 years.
Why mess with caulk on the roof?

RE: Flying J - Cash price on diesel...??

I have had it with Flying J jerking me around that I will shop else where, they screw with what credit card I use then it's the penny off (big deal).
I don't like going inside to deal with cashiers that can barely communicate
after standing in line before and after purchase.
The management can't get their hand deep enough in my pocket, they try stupid promotions that are just that.
I will take my business down the road.

RE: How To Remove Caulking And Silicone On Roof???

I spent a couple days on my roof and removed all caulk from passenger side of MH and applied Eternabond. Then decided to do drivers side after only removing high spots. Next time I will only remove high spots as it sits better with old caulk.
Just make sure there is no silicone, Eternabond is one of the best fixes I have done and it has been 3 years.

RE: Who's going? Albuquerque Hot Air Balloons October 3-12th?

You can offer to crew and be involved. Just go to the web site or go to the crew station on the SE corner of the field. Crewing is one of the best ways to see and find out about balloons. I have been there about 15 times and still enjoy, I don't bring my motor home as I can't tow van/balloon and stay at hotel.
I'm on launch site R2 so stop by and say hello.

RE: oil pressure reading at gage.

I have the same set up with the same problem. I was at Spartan and they changed the gage but that did not help, the problem is in the sending unit. This is a fairly common problem with this set up. Now to change the sending unit requires that you have to be reprogramed at a knowing repair place.
The red light goes out even though the gage reads 0,mine has always worked after restart.Mine has been this way for 5 years and I don't worry about it any more.

RE: Rock guard for DP?

Jim,
I think the solid rock guard is what throws rocks at the toad, it flips them off the road instead of just passing over.

RE: GOODYEAR tires

The 670's are designed and made for RV's and should stand up to UV better and last longer.
The 169's are a truck tire but used on MH's for along time.

RE: Shut off the water when you leave for the day?

Once I had a thermostat on the water heater fail and the element kept on heating causing the relief valve to open and spill out hot water. If the water was shut off it could have started a fire with the overheating problem.
I was home and heard the water discharge so there was not much of a problem.

RE: Oil Pressure Sensor ...cummins 275

I also have a problem with my sending unit. It needs to be changed by someone that can reprogram as it goes from one wire to two wires or something like that.
I had the gage changed but that did no help. Mine goes to 0 on starting but the red light goes off so I know there is pressure there. I turn off engine and restart and it is ok.

RE: What filters to use

If you email the vin # to your MH mfg.,they should send a list of required filters. I did this with Spartan when I first got my MH and they replied the same day.

RE: Bought a JUNK 30amp extension cord......Ouch

Probably drawing over 30 amps, I see you were plugged into a 50 amp receptacle. Probably don't have a 30 amp main breaker on your trailer.
I was plugged into a 30amp outlet and have 50amp in my MH. I also have an Electrical Management System and it would have shut down if it was over powered. I did not go back to the dealer as I left on Sunday AM.
I see a lot of these molded cords and think the connectors are poor.

Bought a JUNK 30amp extension cord......Ouch

I was in my RV for 10 days and needed a longer cord, I went to the local RV dealer and bought a one for $25. When I unplugged it after 7 days it had melted the dog bone connection on one end and the other cord it was plugged into. Now I am out 2 30 amp cords and 1 50/30 amp dog bone.
Where does one buy a good 30 amp extension cord?
